Now that we have a few more powders back in the country. Just wondering how people have found the CFE223 powder loaded in a .223 (ironically)?
Easily workable? Able to get good groups? Or better options out there?

A very dirty powder when you shoot suppressed . That is what I found compared to Winchester 748 or vitavuori n133.
CFE is known to produce decent velocities in this context
Slower than H335 is what I found in my 6x45

Interesting. I definitely want a cleaner powder.
What other powders do you all find works well in a .223 as a starting point? Shooting 55gr, in a 22" barrel.
2206

benchmark 2
8208XBR is very clean but not the fastest

Great. I will have a look around to see what i can find, do some homework on leads and see how I get on.
Cheers,
Actually, I have some Varget hiding on the shelf. Has anyone had decent success with it in .223? I bought it for my .243 a while ago.
Cheers
Both varget (2208) and h4895 (2206h)
Are very similar and clean burning.. they shoot almost every weight of 223 pill the fastest if not close to.. are clean burning and accurate.....
I prefer 2206h as the case isn't usually compressed on the load..
I found cfe223 good in a 22-250 when I loaded for it
Will work great with heavy for cal bullets. If shooting std 55 gr. Pick something else.
It’s a fine ball powder and meters great.
It should give highest or close to speeds with 65 gr plus’s.
I shoot it in .223,6x45, 6.5 Grendel and 9.3x62.
@Gkp what projectiles were you shooting with it?
55g vmax and 50g gmx, I think that was the Hornady one.
Was wicked on reds with the copper mono
So if CFE223 is dirty, varget/2208 is not ideal for .223 55gr pills and 2206h seems impossible to find, what are people using with relative success?
Just trying to get an idea on what to search for.
Try H322/AR2219 or H335. H322 possibly still holds the most bench rest records.
How is the cfe 223 on the heavier pils in a 223 varmint . Hornady 62g sp and sierra 69 matchking

@Tahr i guess it doesn't matter so much. I use the .223 culling, so may put through 200-300 rounds through it in a weekend. I would just like to know that bore/suppressor is remaining as clean as possible throughout that time until I get back into civilization
Gunworks has 2208 and 2206h in stock
Just take a pull through. Who cares if it is dirty. CFE 223 is perfectly fine, as is varget/2208, as is benchmark 2.
I do pest control also and often run a pull through through on any given run for the .17hmr, .22mag and .223.
As for the suppressor, never cleaned one in my life.
As @TLB said, never cleaned a suppressor yet. They work better with carbon buildup anyway. Change suppressor when you change barrel or rifle. These days just use whatever powder works and you can get.
Vitivouri N130 going well with 55g hornadies SP, 100% powder burn good for shorter barrels & suppressors.
