    Chronograhs

    Here we go.

I'm getting 60 fps lower velocities between my Garmin and Magnetospeed.
The Garmin is reading the slower speed.

    Which one is lying?
Everything on poo tube shows close velocities between the two.

    Has anyone else experienced this?
Unfortunately there is nothing much local to verify or add to the confusion.

    Running all the updated firmware.

    Interested in anyone else's experiences.

    Thanks In Advance.

Borrow the forum chronograph as a third option to test. There is one for North and South Island, have used the SI one a few times now as I don't have the disposable to buy one.

You also wander around to my place and borrow mine Happy Jack. 400m isn't that far really. Even driving , I don't think the fuel cost would be that bad.... just saying

Doesn't the magnetospeed measure just muzzle velocity, an optical chrony like the forum one around 5 m from muzzle and the garmins like a labradar using Doppler so picks it up some distance away. Maybe that's your answer, maybe not.

    Shots measured simultaneously or separately?

I didn't realise there was one so close, must come and have a catch up sometime. I only walked 15Km last week with the rifle so I guess 400m is doable.
Micky Duck and XR500 like this.

Its possible that the garmin is picking up the bullet further away from the muzzle. magneto can only read at muzzle

still would not expect anywhere near 60fps though

The Garmin calculates muzzle velocity using an algorithm but will be within its 0.1% error.

Everything I have seen on line is within a few few fps.

Getting a few days off during the week Happy Jack. Maybe we can arrange a hunt at some stage? Mind you I'll need a good vantage point to watch you walk 15k's with your rifle. I only carry mine for about a 1km , after that it can walk on it's own. As it's clearly not doing it's job properly and needs to be taught a lesson. Not to mention if it misses, I leave it at home and take another one the next time!
