Chronographs???
What are peoples recomendations on Chronys?
Which brand do people prefer and why?
Im looking for a quality chrony at a decent price and have been told about the CED's?
Just wondering what the thoughts are on the subject.
Baldbob suggested to me an Oehler, but man can't really afford that.
Anyway thoughts.........................................

You could just borrow mine, your not far away. They are only a guide and verifacion is required by shooting at knowen distances anyway.
How often do you come to Alex
-
you should buy one of those snazzy new barrel mounted ones and then tell us all if its any good:thumbsup:

Oehler 35P  with at least 6 feet spacing but 12 feed is better
For best results try to do your chrony testing on a cloudy day.

G'Day Fella's,
Whilst I personally own a Oehler 35P myself (went shares with two mates decades ago), up until recently they have not been making them.
The only other Chrono I have had experience with that I was impressed with, was the Pact Timer/Chronograph!
Several other mates have Chrony brand Chrono's and they seem very happy with these!
Hope that helps

G'Day gimp,
Not to sure what they cost these days?
I was away bush last weekend, and seen an advert in a Rifle or Handloader mag (Wolfe Publishing), saying they were making them again.
It wasn't until I read this, that I realised Oehler had stopped making them!
They are bloody good but it all depends on what you want, these days I might go for the Pact unit!
Has Santa Clause (aka NZ Post), arrived with some presents yet?
Doh!

The CED 2 with the IR screens is a pretty good compromise.Smaller( still sits on a tripod) and cheraper than the oelher, not as good but with 2 foot sensor spacing and IR Iv found it to be pretty acurate. The IR screens take out the varience you get with light change. Its not an Oehler but its a good step up from the shooting chroneys if thats what your looking for.

That's actually reasonably priced considering

i just bought a pro chrono digital and i rate that as better than my old shooting chrony
