Red face Decapping 300BLK empties with a Lee 223 Die - is it ok to do???

Just wondering before I do this... and make a complete gumby of myself!

I recently screwed my 300blk full size sizing die by getting a spent shell stuck in it. Long story but Tony Gilling managed to get it out for me, but the spindles thread is pretty screwed - litterally.

So the wait for a new die parts is 4-6 weeks And I wanna process some brass and first step is decapping.

So was wondering given the parent case for this is 223 and I have a Lee set of dies for that, can I use it to decap -so I can clean the brass in anticipation of sorting the full length sizing die out?

    Any ideas anyone?...

I have a 223 decapping die that I had bored out to decap all calibers up to and including 338. If the shell clears the internal diameter it will decap fine

Get one of these for decapping, they work really well and cheaper than having to replace the decapping shaft/pin for most sets. They are pretty strong.

    The Lee decapper is crap.
There is a step on the rod that always catches the case lip, you need to grind it down.

Really? Just done 3k mil brass with ours without a miss or problem.Hands are sore thats all.Dont bounce them when you use it.They are going to be 2x run in the LCD when chamber formed. Becomes smooth as butter after annealing. Nice release on the pill.

Lee do a decapping only die, I use this myself to save snapping a pin on a real die.
