Duh...............Stupid Boy just primed 60, 308 cartridges with Large Pistol Primers

Yup, I know I've already said that.

They fitted nice and firm and the sports store tell me that the cartridges will:

1...Go BANG... which I understand and:

2...Fire differently....which is the puzzle. As I have not fired this 308 rifle before nor reloaded 308 for it I don'tr think I would notice any "differently"

My initial reaction at this time is to BANG away with the current batches until all gone and then expect a different performance when I reload correct primers next time.

Does that sound a logical decision?

    Thank you

    Just deprime them.

Go slow, and don't use a lot of force on your press handle.

Wear safety glasses in case one decides to go "pop".

I've deprimed many, many primed cases over the years, and have never had one go off.

Have done this before with 6.5CM, with after firing the pistol primer would have a hole in it from the firing pin pushing through.

Goes to show reloaders should have to pass a test.

Well Kiwi Sapper you will not have been the first. Pistol primers have softer cups and I suspect are less powerful than rifle primers so you could have ignition problems or ruptured primers depending on your load or maybe not. If you have loaded soft loads with stick powders they may be fine. If you fire any check your bore each time.

Load as suggested by you..........NOT that I blame you for this stupidity ...:>)

Your comment re Bore check after each "bang" is a timely reminder, but noting the comments re punctured primers, I think I will deprime ( with eye and ear protection).

As the primers are for my Martini Henry and Snider, no difficulty in slipping them in.....They'd rattle around a bit 'tho and might not go bang.:>)
