Thread: Graphite wearing barrels

For those that graphite dip their bullets / dust the inside of the neck ( me )

So does it or will it "polish" the barrel?

I have been getting better grouping since doing this, is it me, is it the even friction, or is it the polishing effect?

Does the graphite vapourise and disappear or relocate to the bore?

Id say if anything your improved groups would be from more consistent seating depth .

i wonder if a sash cam with inbuilt gps would stand in court. i drive to my gps speed not the speedo all the time as its far more accurate

I would think graphite is much the same as the moly coating craze that swept the shooting world a few years ago
if anything it would lower the friction in the neck a little may make it more consistent,
The burning powder gas temperature is what does the damage bullets not so much if you are worried about barrel wear
shoot cast bullets at 1500fps and your barrel will out last your grandkids.
