This at 60 yards. At that range the petals still expanded and broke off and the shank made a hell of a hole. My fingers mark some petal holes.

@dannyb Ive also used the 117 grn in my .270wsm. 3,450 fps wit R19 powder and accurate. And devastating. Ive got a pic somewhere of what one did front on but can't find it. Only reason Im not using them currently in the wsm is that Im using up less spendy bullets but will go back to them for the roar if I use that rifle (xbolt).

Outta curiosity why the 117gn over the 124gn ? Also of interest is that under bullet specs on the hammer website it says the 117gn weight is 118gn ? Now im confused
Hammer suggets their pills expand reliably down to 1800fps which is impressive when you do some calculations but it is also interesting that the ft/lbs of energy at sub 2000fps is quite low comparitively.
What is their maximum effective range on red deer sized targets in your experience ?
Just looking at other options for if I run out of my favoured eldx and I like the fact that you said these hammer projectiles are "always available" although I would have to find a better suited powder as 2225 doesn't seem to be compatible with lighter pills
