As a completely unrelated aside - this cartridge used to be the recommended cartridge for use when euthanising stranded whales , by the Dept of Conservation. Gave adequate penetration through several feet of whale blubber to reach vitals/.
Muzza's correct, and the lower of these 2 rounds is the current whale euthanasing round! (.303 above).Name: IMG_4703.JPG

Yeah, I have all the books you can on CAC. Cost me a small fortune.
Barry is still alive I presume? I visited his workshop long long time ago back in my black powder days.
I have all of his books also as well as Lynn’s. I’m not sure if Barry is still around

@omark I missed Lynn's A Little Further A Little Faster over the course of it appearing in a couple of NZ auctions. I eventually scored a copy in Oz, cheaper than my failed postal bids at the auctions. I was wrapped.

I use the.250 kynochs. 1960s but we’ll stored. You have to
Use a ram prime with a larger stem to seat them.
Lots of work bur well worth the reward.

I cringe when I hear of guys scrapping good cac brass.

It’s a great book and one of my most favourite reads.

Yeah I'm sitting on a heap of them I've collected over the years. Also have a tin of primers I bought a few years back, from Gunworks I think. Never got around to trying them.. don't know if they are the right ones or not..also not sure if they are corrosive..so kind of a last ditch thing to have on hand. With what components are going for the last ditch might be closer than expected lol..

Good info on the ram prime..I have one. Did you acquire or make the larger cup?

Treat all .250 primers as corrosive (no big deal if you clean correctly). I got someone to spin me up a larger stem for the ram prime .
