Gotta buy shit loads so you might be better to talk to someone like Spanners who actually does it.
Brownells/ Sinclairs will export but you need a NZ import permit or letter saying that an import permit isn't required for NZ so that they can apply for an export licence. So you have an licence fee of 2.5% plus postage which soon adds up.
There is also ReloadingInternational.com who exports.
bulk orders this would be cheaper wouldn't it?. cant see much benefit in just one box or even two looking at the prices for the 6.5mm range.
The Yanks think he is too dear to buy off domestically. I have to date had 3 shipments off him. Last lot were all 7mm Berger 180gr Hybrids which landed came out just above 2/3 the price of NZ suppliers.
Currently he is trying to source some 162 A-Max's for me but don't like my chances.
And to be economical off him you need to buy up to the 20lb flat rate box charge that he uses and then balance whether you are going to invoke Gestapo Tax. If breaking GST it is better to go well over rather than just break it. 20lb order would equate to 800 162 A-Max's but would break GST but landed price would still be extremely favourable.
I've often carried 3-500 back in my luggage without an issue. As for mail order, you a forwarding service like Youshop (NZ Post) no issues with permits, just the additional cost of shipping to NZ.
Just bumping this up... anyone know if I could get someone to send me some projectiles from Australia? Not readily available here.
Cheers
Send me a pm and what your after.
reloading international might be able to help

You shop would send my projectiles I ordered in. Ended up costing my 2x freight internally in the states. And they damaged the packaging!
I thought poo shop wouldn't touch anything firearms related
I m not 100 % sure but you might need an import permit now for projectiles.
Check with your local arms officer first I suggest.
I don't even bother trying to buy bullets from the U.S. anymore. It's just not worth the trouble IMO.
You Shop will not send anything firearm related full stop. I have been down that route. Had heated emails with them ect. They will not even justify their position if its got anything to do with a rilfe no go. They will not even ship cleaning rods. I even went down the route of use for Comonwealth Games they don't care. I pointed out that this was discrimination against a sport ect ect they would not move. I believe You Shop is shipped on Singapore Airlines and that is part of the problem. I even had to supply MSDS for a water based ink. It was non toxic non Hazardous but they didn't care.
I ended my “relationship” with YouShop several years ago. In the early days of their existence I had sent dies scopes etc thru them.
They gave me the big run-around with a small calibration weight that I sent via them.
I got the standard “we cannot send on, will return to vendor at your expense, or will destroy for you, please advise” email. No explanation. Fired off an email questioning why. They replied, “dangerous goods”. I fired off another email asking for them to explain why a small round block of metal with a tab on the top and a certified weight certificate in the box was dangerous goods. They came back “firearms part”. WHAT???!!! After a lot of toing and froing they accepted that it was a test weight with my intended purpose to check the calibration of my gems and precious metals scales.
I don’t believe NZ Post actually operate the facility in Oregon. I think it is done on their behalf by a huge company called OIA Global. Australia Post have their version of YouShop (Shopmate) operating out of the exact same address.
For a feel for the service Shopmate provides look here https://www.productreview.com.au/lis...hopmate?page=2
YouShop won't even ship "hunting knives". Don't kid yourselves, they DO have it in for us, our sport, our lifestyle.
Slightly raising this thread from the dead.
Any ideas on any restrictions around importing projectiles from Aussie? Or is that an arms officer question.
Theoretically at the Aussie side a export permit is required from Dept of Defence.
What about on the NZ side?

Yes Youshop is a joke real PC Nazi's, They class Gas Checks as Ammunition, The problem is USPS are not sending small parcels to NZ and a lot of other places their reason is lack of flights
which I understand; they are only doing the more expensive service which is double the price,
Since the lock down in 2020 I have stopped using NZ Post for anything, I even wrote and complained about their appalling lack of service got no reply
I don't think they are actually in the Mail delivery business.
I buy Knives on Ebay, Kitchen and hunting Knives I collect Schrade knives they come via USPS and NZ Post
So NZ Post does ship hunting Knives they just don't know it.
If you want knives check Ebay and look for Taiwanese and Japanese sellers they are some good Chinese knives but you need to be careful
I have a couple of Chinese Schrades they are Ok for every day use the blades are not super high quality but the price is not bad.
The importation of cartridges (ammunition) depends a lot on the laws of your country and the country where you buy them.
From what I read in the forum, in your country many use the .30 caliber, a good solution for the shortage of cartridges is to reload and, on the other hand, melt lead tips...
I have a few Schrade originals in their boxes that I bought a few years back, well before all the recent years NZ Post posturing. Also from eBay. I imagine originals are now pretty rare?
No knives recently but things like dies come straight thru to my address with no hassles with the final delivery care of an NZ POST contractor.
@shooternz Just had a look on Ebay. Seem to be a few originals around still, unless of course the Chinese are no stamping USA on the blades?
Far better than the original Schrade Fingerling. Post direct from the States. No hassles.

Nice knives but a totally different theme to owning a Schrade Old Timer.
You don't need an import permit for projectiles - unless Customs think you're a dealer.
The US export rules changed last year - for a small number (4 ?) orders a year you don't/won't need an export permit.
Prior to that you needed an export permit that wasn't hard to get and cost (if I recall correctly) about US$200.
I have imported projectiles for my own target shooting.
Customs would get antsy when I bought in multiple shipments of 20lb boxes of 700 projectiles (600 185gr & 100 155gr plus packing). 1 box every 2 weeks or so for a couple of months.
Customs would hold up the shipments every year.
Every year I would give them the same documentation (that they had been sent the previous year) to get them to release them (after duty paid).
I saved a little by importing, but getting the quantities when I wanted them was the main reason.
Over 4 years I imported about 15,000 185 gr and 3,000 155 gr projectiles.
That's helped given the current supply problems.
Fortunately projectiles age well.
