you garden variety drill bits work fine...if I can do it with cordless drill,and not fluff it up too much,you will be far better than I by using your set up....if you used your sharpening skills...of just chucked bit over the bench grinder and made the cutty/pointy part of bit longer/shallower angle,you could have a good deep hollow point with progressively more meat left on the outside to slow the mushrooming......
