Lee Loader .303 - what size scoop did Lee include?

As in the heading, I have a lee loader kit I got second hand at a good price from someone on the forum and I've had good use of it. As with most such kits, it's missing its Lee powder measure dip scoop, but I have some orphan scoops.

Does any of you have a .303 Lee Loader kit with its intended scoop? Can you tell me what capacity it shows?

Here is one GC was selling, It may be a stock photo that could be any calibre, this one has a 2.XXX mL scoop. The older black scoops were in cubic inches or something.

    Greetings Cordite,
Worth remembering that powder equivalents are based on speed not volume so you need to check with your scales how much powder the scoop throws. ADI powders can be more dense than the old IMR equivalents so you could be putting in more powder than you realise. I use the scoops as a poor mans powder thrower and trickle up to the correct charge. The scoop in my old .303 kit is marked 167 which I assume is .167 cubic inches or just shy of 2.8 ml.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Thank you for that, how interesting. The Nobel powder referenced in that Lee Data sheet is ICI Nobel formerly based in Scotland, which burned down. Not to be confused with contemporary Nobel powders which are from a French company I believe. I actually have the Nobel powders referenced and an original load data manual a kind bloke in Australia sent me a copy of a couple of years ago. Took me years to find it. Good powders too I have to say. Amazing what pops up on this forum.

In my early years of reloading my 308 hunting rifle and my old Omark range rifle I used nothing but Nobels #2.
And I have the manual plus the supplement, somewhere. I have searched high and low and got myself real worked up about not locating them.

The Nobels line was excellent powder.

The huge ICI Nobels site in Scotland was one of the biggest around in its time. All gone.

I actually have both. Interesting they have changed the scoop geometry. The old one is more slender with narrower mouth. Theoretically might mean less charge variability when you gently shake it sideways / wipe across with a credit card to remove excess.

I wonder if scoops could be made for given capacity, with a particular case, cut off at a certain measurement from the base, braze on a bit of brass welding rod for a handle. Someone must have done it... Would be BP safe then too

Yep that has been done a hang over from the black powder days, A friend use to load .38 Specials with a scoop made from a cut down case with a handle soldered on
    worked well,

I remember my first lee loader... when I bought it from the shop Late ,70's for my .243 they asked ( or even sold me the powder) ( a 2kilo sack of H4831) and then proceeded to make me a scoop from a cut off case with a piece of copper wrapped and soldered as a handle.
You wouldnt get that service now.... just sell you more stuff. Or more accurately "fit you up"
