Ive got and use..
frog lube...awesome smells like camphor
vasoline...cheap and just works
imperial sizing wax...enough said
powdered graphite..reat for doing necks..but the sizing wax sort of makes it redundant
so no help except to say why try to reinvent the wheel???
why not

SI hunters use a special product called lanolin. They get it at night time.
@blip ratio is 12 parts iso to 1 part Lanolin. Use 99% Iso if possible.
Cool thank you
Just follow Mickies advise - Imperial Sizing Wax
No stuck cases
A small tin lasts centuries.
Use the lanolin on your trailer chassis.
Brass Case Resizing Lube
I made some up same as these guys, really like it, much quicker when doing high volume care prep. I find it easier to wipe off than the sizing wax especially if you do it in smaller batches (20-30 cases in a container, spray, size, wipe, repeat)
Substitute Imperial Die Wax.
According to the internet: 1:4 of castor oil to anhydrous lanoline makes a good lube for swaging. Some sites say 1:2 but most seem to go for 1:4. I mixed 1: 4 and it was exactly as it appeared on the internet, a soft solid that forms a sticky wisp if touched with a finger tip. I thought it was a bit soft for case lubing so I tried 1: 6 which made a lube that works but it is firmer than Imperial Die Wax and harder to get out of the container and onto the case. Imperial Die Wax is too soft on a hot day but 1:6 seems to be perfect when the temperature gets up a bit. 1:6 works OK for case swaging. I think 1:5 may be perfect for multiple uses.
Although I supplied the info on ratios, I am in the imperial wax camp. As a target shooter I run hundreds of cases through the sizer. I reckon one large tin would do 5000 cases. I do neck lubeing separately. Currently use home made Neo lube for that. As I had all my cases wet tumbled in ss pins
Just to get them set back to a Base line starting point.
@johnd Be interested in your Neo Lube brew, if you're willing to divulge it.
Looked at sourcing Neo Lube a couple of years back and gave up.
Simply put some graphite powder in a small jar...maybe a T spoon . Pour in Acetone or isopropal up to a level where it meets the neck. Shake the jar and start dunking case place in a reloading tray neck down to let excess to drain. I use one of those fancy miniature jam jars you get in gift baskets.
Thanks john but I have already used that. Stole the idea off a F Class Champ from Te Puke (you can probably guess who) but his method was to paint the mixture inside the necks using a small brass.
I'll try your dunking method.
Coincidentally, I just purchased a new bottle of isopropal alcohol today from Jaycar.
It's quick and easy. I am part way through doing 700 Lapua cases. Just did 500 Winchester cases for a club member I reload for. The proof will be in the pudding as they say.
i use one third olive oil and too third isopropyl alcohol from my frothers stihl mix it up in a spay bottle works well
I use the graphite powder in a jar lid with some steel shot..dip neck in and they come out coated nicely.
I found that pretty messy so gone to this as an alternative.
Also with shinny shinny sparkle clean brass the dry powder doesn't stick so much
my graphite and shot mix is in a small plastic screw top container about the size of one of those tiny jam jars
Tried the home made case lube today on some 243 Ive loaded up to test accuracy on the ph of wifes. very unscientific way of making it but I used the empty dillon case lube spray bottle, put about a teaspoon of solid lanolin in and filled it up with ipa. it took quite a while for lanolin to dissolve but no worries, I'm not one of those guys that wants instant results as a lot do these days. Pleased to say worked really well and quite a lot cheaper than ready made label brand stuff.
It's probably a better use of IPA anyway terrible tasting beer like drinking dishwater
nothing wrong with tui just cant get it in a man bun bar thats all
any lanolin spray will do
I really don't know why you would bother trying to substitute Imperial wax with some witches brew when Imperial works and is cheap.
Ive not used the lanolin/IPA brew on rifle cases (necked etc)
but run a bunch of .45acp through a dillon and had zero issues with the lanolin/IPA brew.
I reckon for a big loading session the wax would be far too slow???
Never used the wax so not sure how long that method takes??
Plus squeezing the lanolin out of attractive young sheep is much more fun than picking wax outta old coots ear holes.
I've never lubed a straight wall case.
And you'll get more lanolin off a old sheep than a young one, if that make a difference.
@blip Did you use something like this?

As for making it why not? Could say that about most things we do...
