Im looking hard at electronic powder scales at the moment. Particularly something that can take you down to the single kernel. Just curious if anyone has bought one of these new units and would share their experience?

not the same scale, but Im now using a scale(A&D FX-120I as part of a auto trickier v3) does the single kernel thing and my ES has reduced slightly. Have heard that it makes more difference the smaller the round is but I have only loaded .308 and .44 russian on it so far
I have the AnD FX-300i which is exactly the same scale as res's but just with more capacity which I don't use at any rate.
Very highly recommend the brand. There is excellent backup thru AnD Australasia. Needed to connect my scales to my computer and the rep in Oz actually phoned me and talked me thru it. Also had the external power supply fail (not a AnD item, just a generic switched mode ps). Rang the rep in Oz and 2 days later I had a replacement sent from a company in Auckland. The same guy appeared on tv here during the needles in strawberries crisis, setting up AnD weighing systems to detect the needles.
What I am saying is there is very good local support which you will maybe not get from brands that only sell out of USA.
As @res posted you can also get the auto feed device which was designed around the FX scale if you have the dollars :)
The only other brand I would recommend is the Sartoreus in a similar featured scale to the FX series.
The FX uses magnetic force restoration which gives super fast weighing and doesn't drift like the old load cell technology used on older or cheaper scales. Make sure anything you are looking at has this technology.

There's really not much in the gap between $300 that you pay for a balance beam scale, and then $1000 for an electronic scale (that you dont need to verify and constantly recalibrate)
This myweigh unit doesnt seem to have magnetic forced restoration in its sensors (correct me if im wrong) but the code running the thing is something called true division or professional division. Dont really know if thats the same as the protocol being used in all the auto powder throwing units. Are there any tech savvy fellas across stuff?
I use a sartorius at home and a cheapo Chinese scale at the range for load development. Both weight to one kernel of powder which is usually 0.02gn. The cheapo needs to be tared every few settings and I have a check weight close to the lower charge that I confirm it’s accuracy with. They both give the same reading with a given weight. Make of that what you will. I wouldn’t rely on the cheapo unless I could double check it but it’s surprising how well it performs. Very handy for doing load development.
For laughs i pitted my old cheapo chinese scales against my RCBS balance beam scales. I saw several loads that had a half kernel difference i could see on the beam, but those same loads on the elec scale came up with identical readings for all three loads....
I use an A&D FX-500i which has the same sensitivity as the res and zimmer FX models but with more (unused) capacity. Measures 1/50th of a grain. Can't really fault it. Practically speaking though, that level of accuracy doesn't show an advantage at distances of 200m or less, at least in the various rifles I load for.Quote:

At one point it mentions weighing in 7 different modes including grains (gn) but when you scroll to the bottom grains aren't one of the 6 modes mentioned. Further on warranties. I am currently getting no response from the company that handles warranty claims for My Weigh. This is on an issue with their Gem Pro line. Registered the claim almost 2 weeks ago and got an immediate reply with a registration number and blurb about our staff getting back to me. This was probably all done automatically with no human involvement. Since then, nix, nothing. Have sent them a further message asking for update. Still no reply.
I would be wary of buying an expensive electronic device from an offshore company unless they have a local agent/support.
Inanimate objects like reloading dies, no worries, but complex electronics........
Its been a full week since i asked them a question and also requested a quote. Hmmm. Starting to think it might be too risky. One of these A&D units might be the safer choice
A mate and I went with the A&D and the auto throw/trickler V3, went halves in them. By the time we sold up our other powder throwers etc, only cost us $600 each. Easy do 50 rounds in less than 15 minutes and within 0.02 of a grain. Bloody love it. Great customer service from A&D and AutoTrickler.Quote:

I like my rcbs trickler. The kernels come out quick enough and when you just want 1 you tap it rather than turn it. Tbh i didn't even know auto tricklers were a thing!
nore did I 6 months ago, now I think it is the best thing ever- the v3 has a to the kernel load ready for me every time I reach for it no mater how fast I try and go. only loaded just over a thousand rounds with it so far but it has never thrown a bad load yet. The combo of auto thrower and auto trickler just gives me a warm glow very time I use itQuote:

You lads totally convinced me to go with the A&D. Both the Australian and NZ distributers called me and i was so impressed i've placed an order with WSI. I'll just see how the manual thrower and trickler go for now but i wont rule the autogear in the long run

Very happy with it so far. Easy to use, really quick and highly consistant.
I straight away checked it against the rbcs balance scale (as you do) and interestingly it too came back to the exact same point multiple times. It just takes so long to settle.
Tip for anyone doing getting one of these scales, a standard generic squeezy bottle with the top cut off makes a good powder tray. You can cut it high enough to stop powder jumping out
