    New 7 SAUM Reloading

Picked up rebarrelled Tikka from Jaco a week or so ago and have finally got round to chucking some lead down range.
300wsm donor with 20” Bartlein #0 contour 9 twist featherweight (definitely not a featherweight)

Loaded up some rounds with 2217 and 7828SSC.

Was shooting ADG brass and ELDM 162s

I’ll be sticking with 2217 as it’s more temp stable and easier to get. Looking like I’ll load up a few at 67 grains 2217, shoot a decent group and hope for the best. Was blowing its tits off up the Rangitikei this morning, which I’m sure didn’t help my shooting.

Pretty sure the 66 grain group was a slightly loose suppressor.

Yep 2217 is your friend here, have used a 68g load for 24 years, but every rifle is different.

Best accuracy beats highest velocity if you are having to choose between the two.

Occasionally a Fed 210 primer gives better accuracy than a Fed 215 mag primer.

Loaded up 20. 10 magnum primers and 10 non magnum. Result below. @gimp any thoughts? I shot the magnum group first, and then non magnum second.
Heat mirage pretty bad by 10th shot. Shot prone and felt good while shooting.

Was the tight 8 shots just luck of the draw on the day. I have more questions than answer now.

LR primers look solid compared to the magnum. 8 shots in a row is solid and negates luck I reckon. First could be cold bore or just a shooter warmup. Last could be the heat mirage or warm barrel as a 10 shot string is decent.

Results look comparable to when I switched mine from magnum to LR primers less maybe the speed drop. But overall much better!

Shot one of the LR group wasn’t cold bore as I’d shot the magnums first. Who knows, maybe shooter error on the first

It's a lot easier to decide with confidence whether a result meets requirements, rather than whether or not it's better than another result.

The mean radius of the load using the standard primers is probably quite a lot better, but even 10 shots can be fraught.

What do you want to do with it?

It’s only a hunting rifle for ranges out to max 500 yards. But I’m just interested in all recent discussions and statistics. It’s still hard to get my head around that you can put 8 into a group like that and have those other 2 shots way out there that may not be shooter error and are just the accuracy of the rifle.

What are the actual measurements? Group size and MR

Your velocity SD isn't great but perfectly fine for 500m and in

I’m using ADG brass and powder metered over A&D scales. Virgin brass. What have you found improves SD?

I’d be sticking with the LR primers based on above.

Have you tried Winchester primers or CCI?
