Norma Oryx 150gn in 270wsm, anyone tried them ?

Just toying with the idea at the moment, I have a reasonable supply of eldx probably enough to last a few years
But I have heard good things about the 150gn oryx pills and was thinking of giving them a nudge as there is concern that the eldx could be a bit explody at over 3100fps up close.
I'm thinking in front of a stout load of h1000/2217 should see them doing around 3000fps

I've just loaded a few in 270win with some 2213sc underneath. Shooting very nicely on paper so looking forward to smashing over a deer in the next couple of weeks hopefully. I won't be getting any speed like you're talking though, should still feel like a freight train hitting it and holding together nicely all going to plan

you over thinking it again bud.......you talking dual loading...so you can drop down to ...pretty much anything for the shorter range load..heck even a 170grn round nose LMFAO.....but seriously if you like sound of a 150grn,why not just something bog standard???? and cheap....cheap is good......
you have the longer range load sorted...so just a spook n shoot/finisher load needed.

We are inclined to worry about the things that are least likely to happen.
I would bet my lunch that you will never lose a deer because of a so called blow up with an ELDX. At any range.

Ive shot hundreds of deer with the much maligned SST's at under 100 yards. Never had a problem - that might be because I haven't been looking for one.
Brian used soft SST's in his 270wsm up close and I never heard him complain and the deer always looked dead.

That doesn't alter the fact though that the Oryx is a good bullet and likely stouter. Yikes though, you might get "pin holing".

Why bother going that expensive? If you want a good shorter range bullet the 140gr hpbt gameking or 150gr interlock would have to be up there with the best at making animals dead. My vote would be the sierras
