Thread: Nosler 150gr accubond load .308

Hi Just wondering if someone can give me some tips on loads for the 150gr accubond I have got my hands on a few projectiles and a mate has a press and dies so thought I'd give it a go I'm using a 18 inch suppressed tikka 308. Cheers

Start around 45 gn IMR 4064 or Varget or AR2208 or IMR4320 and carefully work up with ladder tests.

Also look up NOSLER reloading data on their website.

+1 for somewhere around 45gn 2208 or 2206. Partitions are the bomb

couple of Q's if you don't mind

Did you get the Tikka shortened ?
What is the overall length now with suppressor on ?

Have a Ruger 77 308 - but its a tad long for Quad etc
If anyone else can answer - can I get it shortened by Gunsmith and if so by how much and will the SUP still be Ok or will I need to replace it if I shorten the barrel

Sarvo....that I CAN answer...any gunny worth his weight in goat turd will be able to shorten,recrown and thread barrel for suppressor...as to how short??? up to you to some extent,my dedicated bush rifle is shortened so can fits snug up to forestock...the other 2 are left longer.my .270 came from factory at 21" and if I had the funds it would be replaced with 27" barrel to gain speed . if you dialing up length dont matter at all. if you like most fellas and 300 yards is a long shot....well pick length that suits YOU and get it cut back to that.....its far easier to reshorten at about $65 a go than it is to rebarrel if you go too short and want to lengthen..... guys get all hung up on barrel being too long and rifle wont balance in hand......sling rifle across chest with left hand sitting on pistol grip or sling barrel forward under arm so left hand rests on forestock.......99% of the time your carrying being slung is ok and suck it up for the 1% you need it in hands ready for quick shot (you wont notice it then)...... sit rifle down on bench when you decide what suppressor you want and move it back and forward till YOU happy with the look.

I would like to shorten as to have the SUP back up a few mm from forestck
I will send it down to Gunworks
300m is a never shot for me - 20 - 70 be my lot :-)

Hi it came with 22 inch barrel I got 4" taken off and threaded recrowned and over barrel suppressor done by dpt. With the suppressor on it's back to about 22" overall. Personally I think 18" is a good fit for me in the bush and also for stretching out a little further.
Like Micky said you can always cut a bit more off its a bit harder to glue it back on!

Try 45gr of 2206H. I use 45.5gr in my 18" barrelled Sako with the 150gr SST which is very similar in profile to the 150gr Accubond. 2208 gives me nearly 200fps slower than 2206H, both using ADI's max load data. Was quite surprised at that.

Just worked up a load for my 16'' barrel tikka with 150gr ballistic tips which fly the same as the Accubonds. Got it going 2860 fps with H335. Hot load.. work up with care... PM me if you want details.

I tested it a couple of weeks ago with a good chronograph. 2,780 FPS average for three shots.
