Thread: Nosler 25 calibre ballistic tip

Is anyone aware if the 100 grain Nosler BT in 25 calibre has the same shank as the 115 BT as in the 7mm 120 and 140 projectiles ?

Nosler list them as a hunting, rather than varminting, I've used them in the 2506 on a few goats and deer, full penetration every time and no pojectial recovery, I've given up and gone to the accubond, mostly as the 100 gr BTip didn't shot very well 2-3" groups.
Can't tell you on the jacket, maybe have to section one, and compair to the 115 gr.

Go with the 110 Accubond and enjoy a happy life !

Running the 115Bt in my 25/06, really good on deer, do have a box of the hundreds, but the 115 is so good not sure I'll bother, sticking to the 117 Prohunter for Tahr inside 300yds though. Wouldn't mind hearing about the 100 Nbt though, they go 3350fps out of my rifle with a healthy dose of 2209 and sub moa but.........

It does seem likely that they use the same jacket, 25 cal doesn't have the same following that 7mm and 6.5 have, so it would keep tooling cost down.

What I found is that very few 25 projectiles perform well. They will either shoot through like a laser or fly to pieces without penetration. The 110 Accubonds are great. I got so frustrated with poor projectile performance that I phoned Greg Duley and asked about his 25/284. He told me that they had tried a bunch of projectiles and settled on the 110 Accubonds as the best. They perform very very well and I will not change. They are the projectile to use. Nosler partition type performance, with better accuracy and high and low velocity reliability. Only downside they seem hard and I can only get 3250 out of them with 2213. Maybe they will go faster with Superformance.

I'll hang my head in shame now, for having spent the last 35 odd years successfully killing, Tahr, Reds, Fallow, Cham, Goats, pigs with the wrong bullets.

At all sorts of ranges, with all sorts of projectiles. I occasionally digress to other cartridges, but allways come back to 25/06. More instant on the spot kills with that cartridge than any other. This is me hanging my head in shame when I think about all those years not using the "right ' bullets

God I hope they aren't all running around on the hill somewhere not dead, what the hell have I been eating all this time?!

I had to micrometer some Nosler .25 ballistic tip projectiles last night and got them at 6.501mm. Maybe you didn't miss the 6.5 boat after all.

Me too I used 100gr & 115gr BT's for years out of my 257 Ackley Improved and nothing got away.

And I'm paper patching them up to 6.7 mm for my "6.5" mm Jap. Yes, nothing is rarely exactly as it seems.

Just to clarify I have 2 257's. A Roberts on a small ring Mauser action and a Weatherby magnum purchased recently. I don't need both. I have a Saum with 7mm and 30 cal barrels so the 300 to 600 yard stuff is covered. I bought the 257 Weatherby on a whim and will be putting it up for sale shortly. I'm looking for a 0 to 300 yard bullet that will work at 257R speeds. I may, if I can find someone with a reamer, AI it.

The Noslers have always shot the best and work great on game I have some perfect mushroomed AB it had I retrieved.

The Hornady 120 Hp is a great bigger game bullet, can't bloody get it anymore though, the Sierra 120Hp is just as good but the Bc is not so great, am a fan of the Sierra 117 Ph out to 300ish, never tried the 110Ab, was put off by the 500yd effect (lack of...) on goats (shooting with a mate), but the 115VLD was sacking them.
looking at trying the ELD-x 110 on Tahr.
