Rifle is a BSA viscount. Would it be safe to assume it will handle "modern" pressures?

The Viscount will definitely handle modern pressures. When sorting out loads for the 6.5x55 I used .260 Rem and 6.5 Creedmoor data to establish maximum velocities and then adjusted for the extra case capacity. You could probably skip the last step. Next I worked up to that velocity which will probably take a little more powder than the 7mm-08. Ken Waters stated that he could not achieve 7mm-08 velocities in his 7x57 rifles without excessive expansion which I think was due to the latter cases being softer. Feel free to PM me if you want some worked examples.
