Poll: Which calibers to import 1st

As some of you might have read in my post here https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....ectiles-96236/ , im trying to get my ducks in a row to import some bullets which leads me to this question. Which calibers to do 1st? Starting with most common just means that i can get going faster and don't have to wait for a massive order to be made. Not covering weights just yet, that will come. Just caliber for now.

7mm

Obvious one would be 6.5

.303 fmj. Service rifle guys will lap them up.

the hard to get ones are obvious first choice..but if they turn out really good,the others will go just as quickly... 6mm/243 and .277 both still lots of projectiles here to be had at present.

What are the rules for service rifle bullets? Because there is a 175gr in 303 but its a flat base open tip. Not FMJ. No FMJ available at this time

It's supposed to be as close to service ammunition as possible but for club days and most shoots it's what ever you can get your hands on really.
For national competition it's a bit more stringent but generally as long as it's the spirit of service specifications e.g no down loading then it's normal ok.

It's price and availability that normally drives what people use for club shoots.

7mm. Happy to purchase projectiles and do some testing on goats and fallow in both magnum and non magnum cases

Anything goes at the moment. At Nationals the bullet choice is not being scrutinized because everyone understands the lack of supply. I doubt it will ever revert back to the way it was before.

To second the opinion on .312 (because there is a shortage) and lighter 7mm (120-130gr) because there is not much around to choose from.

If the bullets are relatively low BC / flat base / SP, then the high BC / boat tail / nuclear-plastic-tip crowd will probably turn their noses up.

I'd go with what regular hand-loading hunters use, which tends to be .224 cal, .243 cal and .308 cal. That's going to be the significant majority of your business.

Not that I use many, but a 303 hunting projectile over a target jobby.
Pity they don't do 8mm
