    Projectiles for 30-30 & 308

    Hi everyone.

I'm new to reloading and so far have just been loading for my .308 using hornady 150g sst and AR2208 but have just purchased a Marlin 336 in 30-30. I understand i have to use a round or flat point projectile but im just wanting to know can all .30 cal projectiles be used in different 30 cal rifles like 30-30, 308, 303 etc? Any recommendations on 30-30 projectiles for bush hunting are the privi soft point ok? Seems to be not much suitable choice on trade me etc.

you can run psp proj if you only use 2 (1 in the chamber 1 in the mag ) or just the first round . the 336 I had didn't seem to like anything heavier than 150gr but that's not necessarily the rule
any .308 proj will shoot and occasionally .307 will come up for sale stick to flat nose or round nose

2208 is probably a bit slow to get the best performance from the 303 with 150gn projectiles, but good enough to start with. If you find you aren't getting the performance you want, you might want to think about picking up some 2206h, now that it has become available again (at least for now!). It will be a good option in both the 30-30 and 308.

If cost is an issue, see if someone local will buy your 2208 to allow you to get 2206h!

I’ve used Speer 130gr HP in a Marlin .30-30 very successfully. And the same projectile in 7.62x39 and .308 Win. Hollow points are fine in a Marlin and you would be amazed at the terminal performance of these projectiles on deer at 30-30 velocities.

Cheers, are you using 2208 aswell. I'm just using it because I have it already for the 308. If so do you want to let me know what projectile and recipe you end up using. Would make things simple for me!
