    Q on Importing dies e.g from Amazon/ebay in 2025

    Hi,

Will there be any problems with customs etc ordering dies online from overseas?
I've done some research and am pretty sure it will be fine and totally legal without a permit etc but I'm just double checking to see if anyone has had problems lately.

I almost ordered a simple trigger spring recently but luckily discovered at the last minute that would have invited problems into my life since it's technically a firearm part.

    Thanks

there is a recent thread on here about customs. be prepared for couriers to ghost you and having to pay through the nose to get them to pick up from the mail centre

I have never had an issue with Dies or reloading components coming from overseas suppliers such as Brownells.
However I have had problems from eBay when the package goes via the NZ post 'YouShop' service overseas mail depot's in UK and USA, because they are contractors companies and are anal about anything remotely related to firearms, regardless if they are firearm parts or dangerous goods or not. Suffice to say do not use YouShop.
Other recently discussed issues involve firearms parts, and are a separate issue. Dies, brass and projectiles will not be held up at customs as long as there are no firearm components with it.

As a further note, I would suggest using Brownells rather than Amazon, as the pricing and selection are better, and many Amazon suppliers will not send reloading equipment international anyway.

Amazon seem to have a policy of not sending anything firearms related to NZ. you will get a message in the cart section saying they cannot ship to that address.

All right thanks guys, I think I'll have a punt, I'll resist the temptation to add some powder to the cart.

Just checked Brownells, good selection but unfortunately reloading equipment is now on the no international shipping list without several forms.

I was surprised to see some on Amazon with free shipping at the moment too. They'll shut that down in time no doubt.

If you log in you can search for items that ship to your address and some still remain. I like supporting NZ gun shops so we still have them, but I don't want to wait for 3 months for new stock (plus pay more for the wait lol).

Quite a lot of stuff won't ship here now, even small things. Obviously the giant distribution AI has determined NZ is a backwater not worth the effort arranging shipping for!

Funny, that's what I thought, how dangerous can a spring be? But I seen somewhere, MyFirearms maybe, that they're indeed a restricted firearm part.

@SneedFeed you could try Accurate Arms and Ammo. They have always been very helpful with my die and associated product orders in the past.
