My 260 improved was not an Ackley. It was a 30 degree shoulder.

I have fitted a 6XC barrel to my Model 7 and wiped up a few loads. Seem like it might work out OK.

    Looking good mate

When did you start questioning your manlyness?
    6mm? What projectiles?

You made the right call it is bucketing down and blowing here.
I might stay wet and go chase some ducks. Seen heaps flying around the river bed while I was bouncing around on the tractor.

The 6XC will be for shooting some matches and small game. Manliness will be restored in the way of a fast 6.5mm again or 7mm (280AI or long action 284).

Currently trying a 108gn ELD-M, will try some 110gn SMK's too. The 105gn Bergers look good too. At some point, will get some 58gn VMAX going at around 3500fps too, should be a hoot!

Pretty warm and windy on my side of the hill, so that means you must be getting pretty wet!

Bit of tinkering with loads is always good for the soul.
    Too wet for ducks even.
    Might stay by the fire

Yeah man, Criterion prefit. Took crony this morning, with a flat battery, so not sure in speed yet. But I should be getting close to, at at 3100fps for 105 to 110s. Will go again tomorrow and confirm. Barrel seems to be good!

Putting 5 shots into a half minute with some loads, but still not at max pressure yet and having fiddled around much yet. Loading long and still have 2 or 3mm in the mag.

Using a Model 7 action and the length works out really nice for the 6XC. Need to find a suitable stock/chassis as the fiberglass one I have isnt really suitable to open the barrel channel up for the heavy barrel. I've attacked the original factory stock with the Dremel for now, but need a long term, ridged solution.

In theory, the barrel life of the 6XC is better than the 6mm Creedmore and the complete lack of recoil is very cool. The necks are long and expected life of 2500 to 3000 rounds is a mile better than a 243WIN.

About 39 to 41gn of 2209 in the prefit 26 inch, 1:7.5 is looking pretty nice.

    @300_BLK

Back to the field range today. Climbed a velocity spike between 40.5 and 41gn of 2209. Jumped 100fps in 0.5gn. The accuracy and speed are both there. The flyer was called and was the first shot of the group.

The velocity in the picture was from 41.5gn and there was more felt recoil, the brass is just starting to show a little ejector mark, so the 41gn load is looking the business at 3130fps.

My 6x47L F-class gun runs 105s at about 3140 from ~39grs of powder, mind you, it is a 30" bbl.

I'd have to say it's far less forgiving than its brother the straight 6.5L. Definitely more finicky to find a load.
