    Re visit on 30-06

So nephew has a 30-06 new Sabatti and has asked me to load some light loads he has given me a box of Hornady 125gr hollow point flat base 30192 projectiles.

I can't find any load data really on the ADI site and you have to pay for Hornady info.

I only have on hand at this time some ADI 2208 and large rifle primers.

What powder and grain weights should I be looking at?

And if I decided to load some for my .308 same question?

    Thanks in advance.

I used 60gr 2209 and LR magnum primers with 125 and 130gr proj in my 30/06. ADI has 57.2gr 2208 as max with 125gr proj.

    Greetings,
Go to the Hodgdons site for their youth light loads using H4895 (AR2206H).

    Greetings again,
Hodgdon lists 40.5 grains of H4895 (AR2206H) with the 125 grain Nosler projectile for 2,615 fps in the 30-06. Pressure was only 31,200 CUP so the cases would only ever need neck sizing. This is for H4895 (AR2206H) only. Don't go below start loads with any other powder.

I'm loading 49gr AR2208. 130gr Hornady SP. Nice groups too.
About 2700fps I think 22" barrel. Very, very mild to shoot but drop fallow ok.

    Greetings @Happy Jack,
For your .308 Hodgdon lists a load of 38 grains of H4895 (AR2206H) with the 125 grain Nosler giving 2,592 fps and 31,600 fps. I have been using the same 38 grain load with 150 grain Hornady Spire points giving a velocity of 2,350 in a 22 inch barrel as a short range target load. For a cheap practise load I used 32 grains of AR2206H with the Frontier 155 grain plated projectile for a velocity of 1,910 fps. Both these loads shot quite well in my long throated rifle. The data I listed seems to have vanished from the Hodgdon site but they still state that loads for H4895 (AR2206H) can be reduced to 60% of maximum charges listed for the cartridge and projectile.
    Regards Grandpamac.

depending on intended useage...the speer TNT very explosive,do not exit even small wallabies...or 130grn speer hp just awesome full stop unless after big hard, angry stuff are another two easy options that work well.
loaded 125grn taipans for mate in his 30/06..a neck shot goat was close to decapitation..... bottom line
PICK YOUR SHOTS or use something heavier/stouter.

30/06 and 125-130gr are murder on goats.
