Recording load data/specs

Hi,
I'm just wondering what people do to record basic current load data. And looking for ideas.

Initially I had some notes in an old note book; lost long ago.

Last 10 years or so I've used a spread sheet with the data running horizontally across the sheet, left to right. Couple of days ago I made a small error when reading a coal and result is the bullets will have an additional 0.010" jump. Probably won't matter but I don't like errors and for me it was indicative that I needed to change. Main reason was info was not all in one place and easy to read/access. So, I decided that wasn't working well enough for me. Needed to make a change.

So, yesterday I changed to recording the data vertically, from top to bottom. (and consolidated the info. see example below) I can then print it out in my office and retain a copy in my reloading & target folder in the man cave making errors less likely. (More idiot proof)


Comments, suggestions?

Looking at that I think you would be ahead of the vast majority of reloaders when it comes to record keeping. My only comment is well done.

Notebook at the range although I use a spreadsheet saved in Google drive which I can access on my phone, I then keep a second copy of said spreadsheet in the reloading folder of My Documents on the laptop.

Yep, copy on my laptop and mobile.

Can I ask what the structure of the file is?

Additional to what you have listed I have a date that I loaded them. Also what rifle they are loaded for as I have more than one rifle in certain cartridges. Another couple of things I record are the number of cartridges I loaded and once I have shot some of them I include the ES and SD with the number of shots fired.
I am curious as to how you obtained a PSI figure?

My load data is all on hard copy dating back to 1980. Kept in ring binders, six of them, with source load data and notes.
It is funny the things you spot in data. Those 130 grain projectiles must have been barely started in the case based on measurements from some on my bench.

I'm using a DIY version of one of the hex comparators.
The measurement includes the comparator.
So, seating depth is actually about 0.300".

Not a fantastic arrangement but certainly lot better that just measuring from tip of the bullet.

Nothing wrong with hand written in a binder.

I use a 2B5 lecture book with a standardised set of categories to fill in for each load.

Much the same as the OP's list, but not as comprehensive. One book per caliber.

Just make a whole lot of notes in the “Notes” app on the iphone. Probably something similar in android. Phone is always with me (for better or worse) and easy enough to bring up quickly to look things up.

Im terrible with keeping data organized....I just scribble on a pad.
But data I like to keep for each rifle is shoulder lenght of a fired case and I size to 2 tho less than that.
Base to ogive measurement as well as coal.

by the time I piss arsed around on computer doing computer shit Id have it all written down with this old fashioned thing they call a pen and paper....

Mines pretty basic. I don't own a chrono so unless I change a recipe I just record sizes, original speeds, case length, seating depth to ogive, powder and amount etc.

Some good points. I need to add base to shoulder length.

P.S. I only intend to use this for finalised loads.
