Replicating Hornady Precision Hunter Factory in 6.5 Creedmore

Young fella getting into reloading wanting some assistance.

He's using the Hornady PH with 143gn Hdy ELD-X in a Begara B14 with 18in barrel.

Any suggestions regarding preferred powder? I have several options on hand. Have not yet chronographed the factory load thru his rifle. If anyone has done the yards on this that would be good info to have. Naturally we'll do a workup to get a final result. Will be using his once-fired Hdy brass.

    Cheers

It's interesting that ADI give data on two Powders for the 143gn ELD-X and the same two for the 140gn Swift AF, yet smack in the middle for the 142gn Sierra HPBT they give 4 powders 3 of which are different and not including AR2213SC.

One suspects they just have not done the testing. Or am I unduly cynical?

    ADI
    For 143gn ELD-X
    AR2209
    AR2213SC

    For 142gn Sierra HPBT
    Bench Mark 8208
    AR2206H
    AR2208
    AR2209

    For 140gn Swift AF
    AR2209
    AR2213SC

Yes with a max of 41.8 that is probably a reasonable starting point. Have you actually done a comparison with the Hdy Hunter Precision? Im interested if anyone happens to have chronographed the two side by side. Or just chrono and grouping info on reloads would be useful. Especially in a shorter barrel. Cheers

Im not sure how you intend to "replicate " the factory ammo aside from shooting the same bullet at about the same velocity. Fill a case with somewhere near a book max load of 2209 and jam a 143 on top and it will do about the same velocity. Replicate.

The factory load for the 140gr ELDM was on the box. 41.5gr of 2209.
