    RIP Neville Orr - Reloader

    I wanted to put up a RIP notification for Neville Orr, reloader from Upper Hutt, in the RIP section, but the system said something about talking to the Administrator, so here I am in the Reloading section.
    Neville has been reloading for competition shooters and hunters for about 50 years.
    Legend has it that Neville reloaded the rounds which Din Collings won the Ballanger Belt with.
    About two and half years ago Neville had a nurelogical event, which meant he had to hand in his Firearms Licence and cease reloading.
    Sometime after that he went into care and, from the Death Notice, it looks like the final 7 months have been pretty tough on Neville and his family.
    Neville was one of lifes unique people. His contribution to the hunting and shooting fraternity was considerable.
    Rest in peace Neville, no more reloading to do.
    Aroha and peace to Diana and family.

    Thanks for letting us know. Neville was very generous with his time when I was first getting into shooting and hunting — which was most fortunate as my first rifle of any kind was chambered in the rather obscure .257 Roberts RCBS Improved. Neville set me up with initial reloads while at the same time providing a wealth of practical advice to compliment what had already been picked up from the manuals on the various processes. Many of my later reloads used IMR4740 of which he had what seemed like an endless supply — recovered from dismantling thousands of surplus military rounds. His workshop was another like Din & Viv Collings' — always full of interesting things.

    @Puffin
    I think I still have the 257 improved dies. I still have the remaining 60 odd die sets to sell.

    I did post it in the RIP section prior to his funeral to let everyone know
