The fastest powder should be the fastest powder an virtually any length barrel within reason as max pressure is reached in the first few inches even with the slowest of powders, what may or may not be an issue is muzzle flash and blast which could largely be negated by using a suppressor.

The faster powders for shorter barrels is more or should be faster powders for lighter bullet weights as often people run lighter weights to get velocity back.

But then I am no rocket scientist so take with a grain of salt.
