    Sample projectiles

Thinking about getting some components together for reloading (a forum member has offered to help) and I'm interested in finding out if retailers offer sampler boxes of projectiles (e.g. 10 each of different weights and construction). Has anyone tried/come across this before?

The incentives for them to do it aren't great, especially if they're low volume, but figured it was worth asking around here if anyone has seen a retailer do this before approaching a retailer or putting a WTB in the buy/sell.

For the record 6.5mm projectiles from 120-147gr lead and/or copper.

Why not let everyone know what you’re wanting to shoot with the rounds you make and the make of rifle and what powder you’ve got want to use. Pretty sure there’ll be a consistent trend and you’ll just buy those projectiles, unless of course you don’t mind playing around.
I’m also sure there’ll be people that’ll be happy to send you a few projectiles if need be.

Goats and deer, probably sub 200m from a 6.5 creed, Sauer 22" barrel, 1:8.6 twist.

Not sure about powder. I'm not going to be shooting over 300m so it may not be as important.

I've not used many types of ammo, just Hornady Whitetail for the most part, so not super sure what the rifle likes.

Careful this reloading lark is somewhat addictive. You will end up with 30 different types of projectiles and pots of powder in no time!

I can send you some 143 gr ELDX projectiles if you’d like?

Shit if your functional requirements are "will kill a deer inside 200m from a 6.5" - get whatever is cheapest in a 130-140gr SP. Your stated twist rate is a bit funky (...are you sure?...) so it's possible you'll struggle to stabilise some 140s.

A 10rd group into less than, hell, 75mm at 100m is gonna be heaps of precision for your stated use case, so it's a pretty easy job. 2500fps or more at the muzzle will do it and more. So you can pick whatever powder is cheap and available from the range of 2208-2209-2213SC and just shoot a grain under max or whatever really

These seem to be about as cheap as it gets. https://www.gunworks.co.nz/shop/item...t-interlock-01

Of course if you have different requirements that you haven't articulated above, we may need to revisit my recommendation

2209 is the "optimal" powder for CM, but it's not in stock anywhere and your requirements are not demanding to meet, Gunworks have 2208 and it will work.

    There you go.

Get whatever is easier, if you only wanna shoot close range it makes no functional difference.

Thanks. I think I'll get some sample packs of Barnes 120gr TTSX and 129gr interlocks from Gunworks to compare. The targex thread was intriguing... Will have to look into them when I get down south after thar one day.

Keep an eye out on here as people sell part boxes all the time. Pays to get the newest trendyest projectiles as the older ones wont work these days
