Steel vs polymer AICS Mag question

Hi Guys

Has anyone compared steel vs polymer AICS 308 mags... will the Steel Mag with thinner walls and ends allow a longer COAL?

I went with steel Accurate mags .308 COAL 2.95 max
MDT polymer are rated at COAL 2.80 from memory

My MDT polymer mags "grew" over 2mm in width when fully loaded so I'd suggest you give
them a big swerve and stay with the metal variety. Have to say that I've found the AICS metal
ones to be the best but have not tried the AICS polymer.

Gee... 0.15 of an inch is nearly 4mm... I only need 1.3 mm more so it sounds like that will work.

the plastic are good if you load 9 rounds. They are very smooth feeding but shorter oal than the steel. i have an extra plastic one here if your looking for one.

I appreciate the offer... but I have a polymer Mag now, I am looking to go to a steel one so I can increase the COAL a further 1 mm for a total 2.5mm over the std Creedmoor round.

The genuine AI steel mags have a reinforcing plate spot welded inside the front of the mag which can be removed with a bit of effort. Gains a couple of mm. Just need to add a bit of plastic to extend the follower to stop in diving.

The mdt steel mags come with binder and non binder plate. And are double stack single feed makes it a decent amount shorter than a AI or accurate mag. I have a couple and have been bloody good.
