wouldnt be any harder than any other case if you went heavy for calibre and used trailboss...big cases are slightly more problimatic than small ones...but if its just for the odd finishing round, you could do a LOT worse than simply take you normal powder load VOLUME and drop down a bit /one size LEE spoon and use trail boss.... it will probably...ok more than likely still be supersonic, but it will be a heck of a lot quieter with very little recoil with added bonus it will have enough speed to impart a little energy and expansion...

Ignoring the obvious question (why in the hell would you want to do this?), it'll be a simple matter of taking the heaviest bullet the barrel will stabilise, and adding an appropriate amount of trail boss (if you can find any). 308, 300wsm, 300wm, 300saum, doesn't matter.

It'll just get increasingly erratic as the case gets larger and the fill gets lower.

so as I said earlier...dont go subsonic proper....just go reduced and be happy with the lower recoil and noise....less "splatter factor' for finishing shots too.

Bear in mind when doing finishing off shots the gun often points down and the powder lies away from the flash hole. Again, supposedly not a problem with Trail Boss, but in a very big case...?

    Greetings @Huk,
By far the easiest would be to buy a .308 for your sub loads. Hodgdons has plenty of tested data with four different powders for the 190 grain projectile. They also offer reduced load data for the lighter projectiles using H4895 (AR2206H) in the .308 and.300 WSM in their tips and tricks section although not subsonic.
Trying to produce sub loads in the .300 SAUM is doomed to failure or worse IMHO. Definitely do not use any load that you can't find pressure tested data for from a reputable scource.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Hodgdon specifies a minimum of 60% of case capacity for Trail Boss and gives 16.3 grains as a minimum start load in the 300 WSM with the 150 grain so I would not go below 60% of capacity which would be around 12 grains from your figures. Best accuracy would likely be higher than that.
