subsonic 308
Hi I'm just starting to load up a few 308 rounds with 9g of trailboss behind a 165 hp, I see on other pages that some recommend drilling out the primer flash hole with 3.5 mm drill,
Any one doing this ?
Ive loaded 303 and 44mag subs but never drilled out the hole. I can see the theory behind it.
It would be great to hear what others have got good results from. Cheers

No not required and will fuck your brass for full power loads.

I shoot a 220grain lead boolit without drilling the primer

Sure they don't mean drilling out the hollow point of the bullet to get it to expand at such a low velocity. Drilling the primer hole is just looking for a whole lot of trouble and possible injury.

Never bothered since trailboss came out but I used to back when I was driving my mrs crazy pulling pillows apart to pack the powder against the primer.
-
Yeah I did - only after reading an article in NZHunter.
I was using 150 SST's.
Like you I never did with either the 44 or 357.

Yup, drilled the flash hole and use magnum primer. Done both 7.62x39 and 308 subs.
I mark the rims of my subs cases so that they are easy to identify.
