Thats more like it (another short 7mm)

After chasing dead ends with my mates Remington 270 that definitely has something wrong with it (he has now bought a Tikka 7mm RM, woohoo) I had the joy of loading for a Tikka again this weekend. I have been at my mate Jacob for ages to get his 7mm RM chopped down, promising that I will do a load for him once its done.

Over the last couple of months he has been busy getting components together and last week the rifle came back from being tricked out. He wanted to run with the 160 TMK as something a little different so working off the Rel 23 and 162 ELD-X combo I know works so well in this configuration we gave it a go. Suffice to say it shot like any Tikka with three of the five groups going very well. Interestingly, the TMK seemed to run a touch slower then the ELD-X with this combo as its doing 2900fps whilst others in the same length are doing 2950 - 3000 with the ELD-X. None the less we were stoked as that's ample for all hunting situations. Load development done and dusted in under 20 rounds, perfect!

    Full specs:

    Tikka T3 7mm RM
Barrel shortened to 20" and fluted
    DPT Mk1 magnum suppressor
    Hi tech carbon stock
Bolt spiral fluted and half cock safety mod
    Talley rings
    Leupold VX5 3-15x44
Steel lip removed from magazine for more length

Norma brass, fed 215 primers, 160 TMK at 30 thou jump (2.720" BTO), 67.5gr Rel 23 - please work up to this as while I know it works in a few rifles including my own I have heard of a few people hitting pressure earlier.

Thanks @25 /08 IMP for sorting my mate with that rem mag, looking forward to doing the same again for him! Before then I have another mates carbonlite 260 getting dropped off tomorrow. 135 classic hunters with superformance will hopefully be the flavour for that.

Be interested to hear your thoughts on the carbonlite vs the tikka with Ken's stock once you have had a play with it.

You’ll find that the Bartlien will speed up with more rounds down it. And I found with the 135gr classic hunters liked a .050” jump in my 6.5CM

Jacob must be very pleased with your results with the TMK ! Well done.
I found some 165gr TGK and they have grouped well too.
Enjoy your video's too ! Thanks

This rifle has the original Tikka barrel on it mate. My load for my Tikka did speed up over time too even though it was already used which was interesting. Thanks for the heads up on the classic hunters! I will start them at .050" jump

    Interested if you’ve ever weighed a 20
Inch rem mag with the suppressor vs the 24 inch with a muzzle break? Guessing they are still a fair bit heavier
