Trying to understand Barnes LRX BC

I had 15 of the 6.5mm 127gr LRX arrive by courier from Gunworks, along with the same quantity 130gr Swift Scirocco's, just to have a play with in my 6.5mm SAUM.

First thing that struck me with the Barnes was the length - these are a looong bullet (obviously due to all copper construction). I measured with my digital vernier, they are 1.4 inches in length. They are longer than the Swift's. They actually look like a half decent projectile - boat tail is quite long (I guess close to a Berger VLD maybe?) However from what i've read Barnes calculate their BC values at 300 yards (0.468).

Would it be fair to assume that their BC value when measured the same as other manufacturers bullets of the same shape / weight would be around the 0.550 mark? - the Scirocco's are .561

Barnes 127 LRXBT G1 0.446, G7 0.228

Swift 130 Scirocco G1 0.491, G7 0.251

Because they are less dense than a copper/lead bullet they would need an even slipperyer shape to even match the same weight copper/lead projectile.

Hammered a few into banana shape for bush stalking for those around the tree shot. They denseded up quiet a bit too.

I have tried both in two guns, .260 and .264 win, neither shot all that great, I found a several gr spread on the swift 130gr, after weight sorting, they shot much better, but I had lost faith by that point, 130gr accubonds has treated me very well, and 125gr partion,

The lrx is their attempt at improving bc by making more dense.
However if one is looking for a high bc bullet for longer range hunting one should look elsewhere than any of the monolithic solids IMHO.

I am a big fan of Barnes up close driven fast tho, that is where they work.

Years ago, I shot the GS Custom banded monolithic copper projectiles, 110gr HV's in my .270 Blaser. They grouped phenomenally well, well under 0.5 MOA and out of the standard .270 I was getting well over 3400 fps.

I think the longest shot I made on an animal was about 350 yards if memory serves me right and it was a bang flop, with massive internal damage (the GS Customs are designed to shed their petals, where they radiate out and cause severe lacerations to the animals internals, while the solid shank contines to drive in a straight line and often exits). However, BC is not spectacularly good, so probably best to keep it under 500 yards.

I see that GS Custom offer a .264 121 gr HV with a BC of around .550. However at over $2.00 a projectile I think I'd be looking elsewhere and in reality there are plenty of other great projectiles out there.
