    W760 any good?

I'm about to start working up a load for my .243 and 7mm WSM. Ideally I'll use the same powder in both. Powder of choice would be H4350, AR2209 or IMR4350, but they're all pretty much unobtainable at the moment. My local has some W760 in stock and the ADI table says that's equivalent. Anyone had any experience with it (good or bad) in either of those calibres? I don't really want to commit to developing a load if I'm only going to start again if & when the current shortages end.

Starting out with 95 grain Targex in the .243 and 150 grain ABLRs in the WSM.

I use W760 for my .243, 6.5 x 55, and 30-06 with excellent results. I am also a fan of 4350 and 4831 but W760 goes through the powder measure so much easier with no cutting of grains and less variation of thrown weights. I am sue you will like it too.

I use win 760. Apparently it is not temp stable but it seems to work well.

The only cartridge I use 760 in is my 6.5x55ai.
Have done that since the first shot in an experiment to see what the barrel life will end up at, given that 760 burns at a lower temp.
Accuracy is great, something that you don't always see mentioned with 760.
    It meters well.
Yes it isn't as temperature stable as an equivalent ADI but I just manage the situation to not get my ammo at temperature extremes.
The AI was my go to F Class rifle and another goal was for my barrel to outlast the general life of 6.5/284s.

I use H414 (760W in Hodgon dress) in my 7x57 with excellent results. It is by all accounts the bees knees for the 30-06. I have a preference for Winchester powders.

Thanks all, I'll give it a nudge then.

Might even try it in my mate's .270, as I'm almost out of 2213sc.

Great powder in the .270 with 130s. Ok with 150s too. Outstanding in the 7x57 and .30-06 (150/165s).

54-55 gns with the 130 for 3000 fps in a 22 inch tube. No issues here with normal summer temps 35c ish for me.

That's the same as what I load for a mates 270, think it's 55.5 of w760 with Hornady 130 interlocks for 3030 fps.

It's not a sexy "Enduron maximum extreme" powder but it's very good in many calibers, I've been messing around with it in 308 with 220 grain pills as well with decent results.

Johnny's Reloading Bench on YouTube did a good breakdown on temp stability when staball 6.5 when it came out and compared to 760 and a couple of others, worth checking out if it's a concern.

    I've been using the Belmont 760 in. 243win, 6.5creed and 6.5prc (120gr pills)
Meters great, and I was getting great 100/200m groups in all cartridges .
Velocities were all over the show however in all 3 cartridges. I tried 4 different primers in the. 243win 87gr pills. With small round samples the ES variance was 30fps up to 130fps(cci 250 magnums). (identical load, same batch of cases prepd identical and all samples loaded at the same time).

Works well in my 2x 243's for mid range projectiles,70-90 gr range, have not really shot it over a crono or for accuracy.
Easy 1" moa for 3 shots groups in the bolt action.
spherical ball powder meters well etc.
Never had issues with temperature but then I have not taken it shooting on >30 deg days. (too hard to cool the meat and I sweat too much)
Have never loaded it past book max in the bolt and mid range loads in the lever.

Don't let a crono ruin a good repeatable group. Won't matter much for a .243 max hunting range for deer/goats.

Unless you've setup a faster barrel twist you will be limited to 500m with a .243 anyway. Ive got a howa with a std barrel. but light bullets means you can treat the rifle like an unfussy garbage gun. I feed mine almost anything i can put together a safe load on QL and GRT. The only thing ive copped from a warmer load is more bloody recoil so i keep my loads optimum for 100m groups / goat bowling.

Absolutely if shooting 300m or less but OP was also asking about using it in the 7wsm which is likely to be used for long range where the potential poor velocity consistency will cause him trouble.
I practice at 500m and 700m regularly and really noticed the difference between the win760 and ar2209 loads on target in my 3 cartridges.
