    Wrong projectile in box

Had a new one for me tonight.

Decided to load up the rest of a box of 162 Eldx's.

About half way through, the bullet just fell into the case, I naturally thought it was something I had done.

The short version is that 90 minutes later I figured out that there was a solitary 143gn 6.5 bullet in the box.

I don't own any 6.5's and haven't bought any components for one so it must have come in the box of 162's which was sealed when I bought it.

The handful of incidents I know of where out of spec bullets were in a pack all occurred with Hornady bullets.
The one incident I was told of where one mismatched cartridge was found inside a newly opened box of factory cartridges was Hornady ammo. I know partly this is because Hornady is a huge supplier of product made available almost everywhere, but still ...
Closest I personally got to it was buying a pack of what was labelled "Interbond" bullets. When I opened the pack it had the right bullet weight but they were all SST bullets. Both are Hornady bullets ....

It's just Hornady doing subliminal marketing

Slip a random 6.5 into a 7mm Tragics bullet box
Then he has a lone 6.5 bullet and needs to buy a 6.5 rifle to use it in ...
Then he needs more Hornady 6.5 bullets and so on

Hammer often miss-label boxes. Always have to check that the right bullets are in the right box.

I had a 30-06 loaded round in with a box of factory 270 ammo years ago. Wondered why it wouldn't chamber.
Typical QC from Winchester. But could have happened at the shop to be fair.

A lovely girlfreind of mine decided to clean up my reloading Bench and put some 7mm corelokts in with some 270 corlokts.

It caused me some nervous stress for some time and I had to obsessively check every projectile I loaded for a few years until all the projectiles I had at that time were gone.

Federal Blue box from GC Chch by any chance? Only asking cos a guy I knew here in chch turned up at the range to sight in his 30/06 with federal as his favourite was too dear / out of stock ...One box had 3x270 rounds which he found after firing them......He was not best please...This was from back when the boxes were not locked up and suspect a customer had taken some out to compare 270 vs 30/06 and put them back in the wrong box - Its not something I would expect the shop to check but is certainly something I check now when I buy ammo for myself...

I rang GC straight away In case they could catch the 270 before it left with the 3x 30/06 n it....
