Keep it simple- hand me a model 7 7mm08 and I'll be right
good shoot it was
The match was really awesome.
what was the turn out like?
Was a good mix of shooters too. lots of new faces.
Did someone hit the Stags antlers, or were they just askew?
@Cowboy06 would know. but wouldn't be surprised if it got hit.
I reckon Nick needs to include a goat target
Anyone know what the first place shooter was shooting?
Out of interest what are the "rules" (if any) surrounding equipment for a hunter match? ie: weight limit for rifles etc? Not that it probably matters much but I'm kind of interested in getting along and shooting some of these kind of things and woukd feel a bit out of place to show up with a bergara and a box of ammunition and find myself on the line with a heap of 15-20lb PRS style rigs. Not expecting to win any prizes or compete for places etc but just interests me to go shoot with a bunch of people shooting similar equipment
Flappy Disc Customs Bespoke Hunting Rifles
For this match - the intent is for shooters to use hunting rifles.
Sub 12-lb weight limit (although I saw a few that were way over that - e.g. a chap in my squad shooting an AI AW .338LM)
No tripods or dedicated shooting rests/bags.
Any cal, speed under 3200fps
Equipment really isn't a factor to do well. I placed 2nd this weekend shooting my 8lb 6mmGT hunting rifle setup. A mate placed 8th shooting a 1990s factory stock model 7 .243 in a plastic stock with a leupold mk3 scope shooting the 87vmax at pretty moderate speed.
If you're a good shooter in real field positions, familiar with your system and have your data squared away, you should do well even with a bergara and a box of factory ammo - a good % of people don't meet those.
I'd encourage everyone to give it a go and find out how often you can do everything right across the course.
