The GPRE Speed vs Precision match in the last couple of years has been more speed orientated. It was styles to give some advantage to the semi-auto shooters trying to gain season points before the season finale. The 2025 season though has had a few semi-auto shooters doing fairly well though.

In Marksman class (the old hunter class) most of the 2025 match wins have been with semi-autos and even in Rifleman class (open class) there have been 3 of the 11 matches won with a semi-auto.

So this year I want to try and mix larger targets and smaller targets within stages. I'll try and style the stages to essentially force a change in pace within the stage. Larger targets that competitors can sacrifice some stability or fundamentals on to hit quickly but mixed in with smaller targets that all but force good position and good shooting fundamentals. The plan is to go some way to balance the bolt action vs semi-auto discussion.

    Should be a fun match!

Very fun match. I really liked the mix of large and then very small targets in Rifleman class - even Marksman class had some very small targets included and a couple of more difficult shots mixed in amongst some very fun stages. But the change in pace within the stage needed between very large targets and very small targets was cool.

Average scores for both classes were in the mid to high 70% range with only a couple of people dropping below 50% for hits. Winning scores were both in the low 90% range so excellent to see everyone get a heap of hits and have some fun.

The excavator stage was a bit of a favorite for everyone. The piano keys target set for Marksman on stage 8 was almost universally disliked - possibly because they started with a couple of challenging unsupported shots!

Both Rifleman and Marksman tables will be pretty tight at the top going into the final.
    Same for top lady overall.

    This was a fun match.
It was a good balance of speed and precision, I think a semi auto and bolt action were both equally well suited to the COF.

Cargo net was the least enjoyable stage for me, some of the low positions were not much fun and not used to wobbly props anymore.
