    17hmr suppressor

Looking at picking up a 17hmr, is there any benefit/negative to using a centrefire suppressor on a 17? I have a 30cal one already or is it better to grab a dedicated rimfire one?

Use my DPT 30cal on mine, works well.

I run a DPT overbarrel centrefire with 17cal baffles and its great, just the sonic crack which is actually very good at disorientating the prey. Id think 30 cal baffles will still leave some sound but worth a try.

I run a DPT 17HMR suppressor. After talking with the DPT guys a few years ago now.
The information was good and it makes a great difference.
I've come back carrying the pick ups and the comment was I did hear you.
Yet I think that's a sound thing, thats muffled by many factors.
But I do recommend it and it's far more quieter than the DPT 22mag/17hmr.
It's bigger but I am used to it. The other day I was sighting in a change over to the 223 and another was sighting in his 223 and I said thats very loud to which he said I am using my 308 suppressor on the 223 and no problem telling something was different.
That opening matters on your ears.
    In my opinion.

I have a DPT 17HMR forward can and it is very quiet. I have shot a few deer with it. Very different to the 223.
