    CCI segmented 22 ammo

    I'm hearing good things re:terminal performance of CCI segmented subsonics.
    That being the case what does the 40gr HV stuff go like?
    Especially vs their minimals which seem to be a very good bullet
    Cheers peeps

    I prefer subs, 22 mag is amazing

    @EmpireSafaris one of CCI's better 22lr ammo is called mini-mag. It's not a 22 WMR or magnum

    Ive used the 'CCI 22LR Quiet Segmented 40gr Segmented Hollow Point 710fps' very quiet and possums dont like it, accuracey seams ok at 50 meters through a Norinco 22.

    I didnt even know that stuff came in subsonic.
    I got a pack of the stuff in standard velocity that I havent tried yet. Was meaning to try it out and compare accuracy, Im hoping i dont need to dial my scope in for it, but if i end up switching subs, i will have to reset my scope regardless.

    They are laughably quiet through a suppressor which is great for not irritating the neighbours on small blocks. Mind where you point them though because if you miss the segmented projectile does all kinds of funky things when they ricochet, can very likely come back at you...

    Does CCI have 22LR with exploding projectiles? I know they do in 22 magnum, was a lot of fun shooting targets with that stuff. Made a good job on possums too.

    Hi , I solely use it in 2 rifles, it’s super quiet,with a suppressor and packs a punch it’s only 710 fps and you can whatch fly in the scope but dam hit it in the right place n down she goes, I do a lot of pest control, rabbits mainly, Neva let me down, doesn’t like being in a auto but in a bolt it’s fine, groups well at 60m longer shots easy , but can ricochet

    It's all I shoot in my 22 around home. Sure gives the possums and magpies the what for. Last time I checked the new shop in Palmy quoted me $35/box which seemed pretty pricey for a 50 round box

    I used to only use the segmenting stuff, but it has proven very hard to find recently.
    I had to get the standard 40gr (non segmenting) a while back and it is OK, but the terminal performance is nowhere near as good.
    My major reason for liking the segmenting stuff was that it didn't 'bounce' and ricochet to the same extent after going through a rabbit.
    I do a lot of pest control on hobby farms and that is a constant worry, so many times I have not been able to take a shot due to the risk of a bullet going through and ricocheting.
    From that perspective alone it is a very good ammo (reduced risk is not NO risk though - remember that)
