    Remington Subs .22

Anyone have any experience with these? My other options are Winchester or Fiocchi. Can't get CCI locally at present.

they arent in the same league as CCI or better brands of ammo but they go bang.

If thats what you are after then they will be fine for plinking , maybe not so much for real accuracy. But your rifle will tell you if it likes them.

As an aside, I went out yesterday with my Rossi 7022 semi. I had a box of Fiocchi subs and a box of Winchester (US). The Fiocchi functioned flawlessly and was consistent in the sound and was accurate in the brief test I did. The winchester was, be blunt, total poo. Wouldn't cycle, or feed at all after the first shot and stove piped, as well as the noise varying. I will continue with Fiocchi for now, because, as well as funtioning well, it's only(?) $13.90 a box at my local.

I have a sneaky feeling Fiochhi 22 ammo is made by Eley.

I know Rem Thunderturds and Golden Bullets are dirty burning , and invariable have loose projectiles wobbling around in the case crimp.

Any bulk pack ammo is probably not the best grade of ammo that company makes - thats why they sell it in bulk.

But I shoot a lot of Thunderturds and Golden bullets as plinking ammo and its just fine for that.

You guys are close enough to use Ammo Direct in Rolleston. He has a good selection and is price competitive - and he isnt GC or HandF.....

Bit of a late bump but I got some Fiocchi subsonic on sale at Gun City recently and it's horrendous. Made in England and greasy stuff consistent with Eley. I shot a group with my JW15 and it was like 5MOA or something ridiculous, I put it in my 10/22 and it jammed about 2/3 of the time, quite badly too where the shell wouldn't come out of the chamber and when I finally got it out it was all scratched up and there were brass shavings on it. I'll chrono it tomorrow out of the bolt gun if the weather lets me.

So yeah I wouldn't recommend that, it wasn't just a case of a 22 being fussy. The guy at Gun City tried to pressure me into buying a brick of it too

My Rossi 7022 semi loves loves it. I had what you described with the Winchester I tried.

Some Fioccchi lines are just rebranded Eley. We discussed that on here a while ago, probably 3 years ago?

There was a thread on the relationship between the two companies on Rimfire Central. Some poor bastards were buying Fiocchi subs, finding out the hard way it was shit, then being told by the same shop to try the Eley equivalent gggrrrrrrr.... its exactly the same ammo. There were even reports of Fiocchi ammo having the Eley stamp.

Both Fiocchi and Eley subs were utterly hopeless in my rifle.

That's crazy, honestly I'd never fire it in my 10/22 again, the bolt was flying back without extracting and then got jammed backwards which can't be good.

Anyway I did a 10 shot group today with my 22 inch JW15. Windy today so I could only shoot to 35m in shelter. Avg speed 957FPS +/- about 50fps each shot max 1020 min 890. 1 fail to extract, in a bolt gun.
10 shot group was 6.4MOA (not inches) but taking away one flyer it was 3.9MOA. Fast but careful shooting from my nice new low tripod. Not as bad as yesterday but with CCI this gun gets sub 2 MOA on a bad rushed 10 shot group and 3 shots often touching.

I'm still going to use it and try out the nice hollow points but this is definitely center of mass tier ammo not headshots lol
