    Weihrauch .A closer look

So up close and personal its a typical piece of german engineering. The action is tight, smooth and functions with authority. In 300rds so far not one fail to feed, fire or eject not even a split neck. The bolt is typical rimfire but large, over .7inch diam and has an extra locking lug at the rear in stead of just the bolt handle. Checkering on the bolt knob is a nice touch.

Bolt release is on the left side of the action ala Tikka. Bolt lift is firm and travels 60 degrees which gives plenty of clearance from the scopes ocular bell.

The barrel is heavy tapering from .9 down the 23 inch length to .64 at the muzzel and along with the action has a deep bluing, almost black. It came out of the box with a comforting layer of protecting grease/oil internaly.( took some cleaning out )
Trigger guard seems to be pressed steel and protects a very nice trigger maybe the best Iv seen from a factory rifle( by far the best in this price range). Adjustable for creep and weight through the trigger guard with alan keys that come with the rifle along with instructions. Iv set this one at around 1.5lbs. .It will go lighter but its plenty for a rifle that will see some off hand shooting. Magazine holds 4 ( not so flash) but this one comes with a spare for the price. Release is a little simple at the rear of the mag.Not sure how likely but it would be possible to lose a magzine.

Fit and finish is very good. Nice wood and chequering although the finish on the wood needed a little rub up. Spacers in the butt and pistol grip cap give it little lift.

Its weighty at over 7lbs bare but a nice carry. Balance just slightly down at the muzzzel has your little finger resting on the front of the magazine.

This rifle came with iron sights, iv knocked the rear sight out of the dove tail to allow the scope to be mounted as low as possible.
The euro style stock wont suit everyones taste but its hard to think of a rimfire that offers more for the price $1300.00.
If I can bring my self to cut it it will end up with a can on an 18 inch barrel...

There is! But they won't really appreciate them till they have done a bit of hunting with them to see how practical they are.
Moronge got a Gay8 though, so he's a bit classier than us 93 bums.
I only get to talk to his secretary since he got it lol.

I see they have fixed the problem with the latch on the mag by putting a protective piece in front of it. My one had a flat bottom on the mag and the latch would trigger by bush or whatever, meaning the mag fell out, I had a piece of fine chain securing it to the trigger guard.
Lovely rifle, I now have an Anshultz
, early 1950s model and that's a nice rifle, much the same
