    Who Dat Eatin' Our Eggs?

For the last while we haven't been getting any eggs because something is eatin' 'em. Sometimes it's just a hole in the top and the egg has been sucked dry and sometimes it's completely smashed.
Whatever it is it's too big to fit in a stoat trap which has been in the house for a couple of months now with different baits including eggs.
Any ideas on what it could be and how to get it without killing or hurting a chicken? (Unfortunately that means shotgun-w/-tripwire is out and we don't want to use open possum traps in case a chicken stands on it...) I also don't fancy sitting out there all night with the .22 waiting for it, or going to all the expense of a night camera or something. Ideally a cheap alternative (we only get about 4 eggs a day anyways).

    Cheers

You do the odd hen that peck the eggs but want suck them dry, will eat the yolk. Once they start there is only one way of stopping it.

I’ll take a fifty cent side bet on it being a rat or two.

I don't think a rat would end up crushing an egg.
I'm with the rest of the gang in suspecting an egg eating hen....I've had a couple in the run over the years and suspect an egg gets broken accidentally, then pecked at out of curiousity, tasted and from then on it has to be treated just like a rabid dog. Difficulty is in identifying the guilty hen

Oh, you need to start thinking like the Govt. Just get rid of the egg owners, then there will be no eggs and therefore no egg crime. Govt logic.

I see that you have a direct link to Labour Party HQ and uncovered their plan to aboliosh eggs, so that never again would Twotford, The Fat Controller, Hipkins, Nash, Clarke, Jones or the rest of the incompetent band ever end up with egg on their faces again and again and again etc etc ......Probably easier to abolish eggs than find any competent M.P's to appoint as Ministers..........Name: egg on the face .jpg
