    22 Creedmoor

Who here is hunting with a 22 Creedmoor and what comments can you make on it?

From what I have been reading it looks quite impressive. It is a shame that no manufacturer has run with them yet but hopefully that may change in the future.

So that leaves the only option of having to build one.

Of that process I have no knowledge. What does it involve and how expensive can it get?

Any information or discussion on the matter is welcomed.

    Cheers
    Phil

Hardy rifle are chambering a barrel for a hybrid right now in 22 creedmoor. Itl be a 7twist barrel so good for the heavies and down to about 69ish gr projectiles. The 80 or 88gr eldms would be a wicked projectile in it. Im stockimg up some 88s for a future barrel for my hybrid. If you have an action for it ( 243, 7mm08,308 etc bolt face family) all you need if for a barrel to be chambered and fitted to the action. Terminator products did one too recently IIRC

just be a matter of getting a rifle chambered in 6.5/6mm creedmoore and getting a new barrel made up and installed by a gunsmith, dont know who would have a reamer though...

To be fair it wont do anything particularly different to a fast twist 22-250. But to get that your already going down the rebarrel route, so i guess it will come down to component availability?

80 grain projectile at between 3200 - 3300 fps is most definitely a step up from a .223 is it not? Or am I not putting enough charge in my .223 loads?

Looking at this image of .223 .220 Swift .308 (the latter being the parent case for the CM) ... is a .22 Creedmoor not just a #metoo of the .220 Swift?

Have considered going down this track myself on a couple of occasions ...

There is Peterson 22creedmoor brass cases available in nz at workshop innovation/ reloading direct.
Die set is available from Whidden Gunworks, and maybe others.

Doesnt seem to be lots of load data readily available. There is a 22creedmoor facebook group.

    Im running a 22C on a Howa action and a 26" Bartlein.

Shooting 80gr ELDMs at just over 3200fps because of the speed restriction on most competitions. I got a really good node at 3430fps too but its useless to me.

Its not more expensive then any other calibre to build or reload for. Components for reloading is readily available.

It basically does the same as a 22-250Ackley plus 80fps.

Why do I shoot it? Cause I can and Im trying to have the full Creedmoor line up. Just finished a 7mm Creedmoor for a friend and have a 25 Creed in the planning stages.......might even do a 20 Creedmoor.

So, being a rather large case for a small hole, would it be a bit of a barrel burner? Depending on how hot the loads are obviously dictates a fair bit, but would sort of round count could one hope to expect out of one of these roughly?

after seeing above comments and photos went for google...parent case is the 30TC but you can make 6.5 creedmore brass from 22-250 or 308.... whcih begs question could you fireform 22-250 into 22 creedmore???.....it APPEARS the straighter sidewalls is biggest difference...so the ackley improoved comment above definately rings true......
