When dogs bail depending on the dog some bail at a safe distance and some like it close . Ie foxterier bail like a foot away . Some pigs will just sit down and not move . Good experianced dogs will bail at distance to not provoke it to breaking and running . The hunter can sneak in and shoot these ones easily. So it's not normally possible to shoot from a distance of more than a few meters . Bailing dogs are preferred in more open country (scattered scrubby farmland ) .
