Thank you for the replies Tahr and Hunter_Nick.
Your explanations were a great help in understanding the how and why.
The 73's luckily just fit into my vixen magazine even though they wont stabilize with my slow twist.
Both your explanations also help me understand why some Tikka t3 owners are using Waters after market magazines.
    Cheers.

From the top pic: 100 yards standing - muffed shot (dog found it), 288 yards and 300 yard. All with the 62 grn Maker. 4 shots (hit the Red twice, one would have done it).
The 300 yard one was with a clip on thermal on the way home.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

The grass is looking very green in your above photos Tahr.
Is there no drought in the area you hunt?
Parts of the northern Waiarapa are very dry.

Fantastic spring. Best growing season ever. High, wet, micro climate area. Never gets really dry.

Funny how certain regions can be significantly different climate wise, even though as the crow flies they aren't that far apart.
Last spring was the same for my mate. Fantastic and one of the best in a long long time, yet this year is a complete 180 with one of the worst.
His station has had 60mm of rain since end of August.
The farm and surrounding area is very dry with some creeks and springs dried up.
Even deer numbers are seemingly a bit less, but they are still in great condition for now.

The obligation is to use a "proper" projectile. Surprisingly there are lotsa rubbish pills for sale. Dudes who tell you ... bought this packet of ammo and it "looks" good. Next they tell you.. I am sure I hit that hind and it just walked away.
