Then the neighbor decided it was too much effort to recover this particular cow, and could we just shoot it?
I had no rifle, so a borrowed. 223 gets produced (fortunately I was confident of the zero), Daisy gets sent to cow heaven and I'm bleeding it with a pocket knife because the Bahco in the side by side had just been used to cut electric fencing tape and could have been used as a bike seat.....
Then I went and found a decent knife for the next stage of the comedy.

    Latest deer with the 223!

    - The shot pictured is an 8-year-old's first session on a rifle.
    - 69gr HPBT
    - Full pass through - steel, wood, corrugated iron, then into the bail
    - Half-size deer to simulate shooting @ 225m
    - A metal plate was positioned on the deer's vitals to give the kids an indication of when they made a good shot.
    - Every kid who hit the target got a chocolate - no limit on chocolates.
    - With that incentive, you can imagine how much ammo we went through!

Well that was easy. Reading on here and doing a bit of research (despite ADIs weird load data where they have max load at 22.6gr with the 73 and then a much higher max load with a 75gr..?) I pretty much decided I was going to run out of room in the case with 2206h and the 73 at mag length in a tikka before I had any major pressure issues so I tipped 25 grains into 5 cases and went and shot them hoping id get 2850. They shot well enough too considering they were the 6th-10th shots through the rifle (I had sighted it in the other day with some 55gr Belmont) loaded up 5 more and put 3 onto the 4" 325yd gong and 2 onto the 10" 510yd gong. Guess ill have to go shoot a deer with it now.

The 73 has a significantly longer bearing surface than the 75gr VLD style bullets. It does show pressure at lower charges than e.g. the 75 ELDM (compared below).

I could run the 75 slightly faster in the Tikka. Never tried to hard with the Howas since they hate the 75.

Ended up average of 2868 which I think will do me, slowest of the 5 was that one showing at 2858 and fastest was 2875, happy enough with that as im just throwing loads with a powder thrower not trickling or anything, trying to keep it simple and have got the 2850 I wanted from it, will throw a few more past the chrono when i get a chance . If I was really into messing about with reloading again I'd possibly try BM2 and the 75s but I reckon I probably wouldn't gain much, could stoke them a up a little more possibly but then have to seat them deeper to fit the mag and encroach on more space in the case
