When buying the Tikka I was a little unsure whether to decide on 7mm Rem Mag or some .30 cal. It's a pretty lightweight rifle so the recoil is definately something to consider. Thus I decided on the 7mm Rem Mag and I am very happy I did. That being said a .300 WSM won't be a bad choice at all. It will kick a bit harder but in a hunting situation you won't feel much difference. Might be different when target shooting, though. The performance of both calibers is pretty similar anyway.

The wsm may give you more projectile choice while mag feeding also depending on make of rifle
