    Wanting to take son hunting these holidays and this area is new to us - Have any of you guys had access through the Karioi forest in Ohakune or hunted in the area?

    go down to the karori lakes road and turn left up into a track which winds up a fair way.some great native in there but will be a few hunters up there at the moment.
    access to the winstone forestry is now restricted to locals with permits issued and kill returns needed before another permit issued which i reckon is a great idea
    Also try erua if it hasnt been nuked latley
