I am in the ssame boat mate, iii have a fly in trip to tussock hut in a few weeks 1st time chasing em.

I have been doing a lot of reading in hunting them.

From what I understand the general rules apply.
When thwy say go slow they mean one steep at a time.
Keen watching behind as they can follow you.
    They love sunny clay pans

Rookie sniper when are you heading in, im heading in next month.

Dont take two much shit, there is a weight limit on the chopper, i think the r44 is 270kgs and the hughes is 430kg. This is a heap of space if you think about what you are taking, but if you dont, you will use it up pretty quickly. In the hut there will be pots and pans and a gas cooker should also be provided so unless you are going to camp you wont need these.

I will just take food, hunting gear, fishing gear/licence, Sleeping bag etc and a towel. You don't need much really but as you are flying its good to have a few luxuries ie Bacon and Eggs.

Flick me a PM if you want.
    Nick
