This is how complex and tangled this and these issues are. One of the access points too Ruahines I used a lot, got closed because hunters were heading in via it, then around the back to hunt part of the station.
It got negotiated open access again, only to get closed as I understand it by trampers laying an unfounded complaint re animal welfare.
A story about boundary fences. We had a local bee keeper who we allowed to have hives on our farms. His family were well known and had kept bees for 3 generations, coming up 4, in the area. One day I see a chopper flying in hives too my back boundary, and when I investigated I found that one of the large national honey corps had taken up a doc concession and were landing 40 hives within 160 meters of the local guys 16 hives. It would have been a disaster for the local guy as the 40 starved them out.
I rang the corporation who told me nothing I could do, as they were quite entitled to put there hives as close to the boundary fence as they pleased. Until I told him the fence wasn't on the boundary..... It was actually 40 meters inside of it and if they weren't gone within the next few days, I would burn them out.
